It has been a couple of months that Blackberry Phones such as the Blackberry Passport and Classic with Blackberries native OS (BB10) are getting popular again. Although BB10 was officially considered dead in 2019 and every single feature down to the small things such as the GPS was cut off in 2022, you still can run some Android Apps and this is the Reason why people can still use this phone in 2024. BUT there is a big problem, Blackberries ART (Android Run Time) only supports apps designed for android 4.3 and below. Just for info this version of android is about 10 Years Old.
What BB10 Device should I Buy?
Its hard to say what the right Device for you might be but we recommend you to get a Q10 if you want the latest BB10 OS, a small screen and a budget friendly Blackberry. If you don’t like small screens and like the classic BB control bar and you are a developer get the Q20 (Classic) , also most of the developed apps for BB10 work the best with the Q20. Now if you are a fan of Phablets and big screen the Passport is the best option for you and you get all the benefits of the Q20, the only problem being the price that might be high in some countries. All of these recommended devices have 4G connectivity.
What Should I concern when buying a BB10 device?
The most important thing that you need to concern is that in some Countries Carrier Networks are not available, based of our research there is no support/limited support in USA and Canada. If your Device supports 4G which all of our recommended devices do, you are good to go in the European Union. A source from Saudi Arabia has also informed us that there is no support for BB10 Devices on Saudi operators. Otherwise, you should be good to go in the rest of the world. A Developer called Ferreira Pablo has Developed a new social app similar to the BBM messenger and it’s called WBM (Waitberry messenger). This Web based Messenger App is most likely the best way of Communicating for Blackberry users with IOS and Android users. For now, the Only problem that may annoy some people is the fact that the WBM is not End-to-End Encrypted, but you don’t need to worry because the developer has informed us that your data’s are safe. Final thoughts
